Booking Details

Gózon Drums is available for live performances, recording, drum and percussion work, programmed drums, and drum lessons. Every project is different, so communication is an important part of determining what is needed and what will work best.

An inquiry or booking request is not considered a confirmation. Confirmation will take place through additional communication once the details of the project, performance, recording, or lesson arrangement have been established.

Performance & Recording

For live performances and recording sessions, it is best if any material that needs to be learned is received at least one month ahead of the scheduled date.

Please send any relevant links, tracks, demos, or major-release recordings that will help with learning or understanding the material. If backing tracks and a click are used during a live performance, this must be communicated ahead of time so that Myk can bring his own in-ear monitors.

For performances or recordings that allow for improvisation on the spot, please communicate that possibility or preference. Please also indicate whether Myk will be learning predetermined drum parts or creating drum and percussion parts for the material or performance.

The goal is to serve the music first, whether that means learning an established part, creating something new, or responding to the musicians in the moment.

Myk plays both drum kit and Latin percussion. Drum and percussion parts may also be created or programmed using MIDI and/or loops.

Myk’s strongest areas of performance, composition, and recording are rock and R&B, with extensive familiarity with popular music and drumming styles spanning 1950 through 2000.

Rehearsals

For professional live performances, one or two rehearsals are preferred, but they are not required. Myk is also open to arriving and performing the date without a prior rehearsal when the circumstances and material allow for it.

When rehearsals are requested or necessary, rehearsal time will be considered as part of the final cost. Myk will not be financially responsible for rehearsal-space costs, rented rehearsal equipment, or other expenses necessary to conduct the rehearsal.

Equipment & Performance Environment

Myk is comfortable using backline or another musician’s equipment when appropriate. He will generally bring his own double bass pedal, snare drum, and any other equipment agreed upon beforehand.

For the most comfortable performance and recording experience, Myk prefers to use his own equipment in its entirety when circumstances allow.

Both indoor and outdoor performances are welcome.

There are no predetermined preferences regarding performance length, number of sets, breaks, or related scheduling. Any time restraints, scheduling requirements, set expectations, arrival times, setup times, or other time-related obligations should be communicated before the booking is confirmed.

For performances, Myk prefers to be allowed to wear clothing that is comfortable and appropriate for him while performing. If a particular dress code, wardrobe, or appearance is required, please communicate that before the booking is confirmed.

Accessibility & Live Performance

Due to Myk Gózon’s visual limitations, music charts and visual cues cannot be used. Myk does not read music notation or charts.

Myk is generally comfortable leading the band as it relates to starting and finishing material in a live performance setting. Since visual cues from other performers may not be seen, it is often best to allow Myk to cue the band or performance using broad gestures or musically based cues.

Questions may be asked or concerns expressed regarding the performance space, stage setup, equipment placement, or navigating the environment. These conversations are simply intended to ensure that Myk can perform comfortably, safely, and effectively within the space.

Clients, musicians, venues, and collaborators are welcome to ask questions regarding these considerations. Open communication beforehand is encouraged so that any concerns can be addressed and everyone involved can focus on the music and performance.

Recording & Remote Projects

For a full drum-set or full percussion-rig recording, an appropriate studio or recording space will need to be provided. At this time, Myk does not have the facilities necessary to independently capture a full drum kit at the desired professional recording quality.

This refers specifically to the audio recording capability and not the quality of the playing or performance.

Myk can independently record good-quality individual percussion parts, including congas, shakers, and similar percussion instruments.

Drum-kit, percussion, and programmed drum material can be provided in the preferred file format when agreed upon as part of the project.

Rights, Usage, Credit & Promotion

The client retains the rights and usage of the drum parts, percussion parts, and/or programmed drum or percussion parts created or performed for their song, recording, or other content. Once incorporated into the client’s work, the client may use that material as they wish.

For programmed drum or percussion parts and loops, Myk asks for permission to retain the ability to use the programmed material separately. Any specific rights or limitations can be discussed and established as part of the project agreement.

Crediting Myk Gózon is preferred and appreciated whenever applicable or possible, but it is not mandatory unless otherwise agreed upon.

If Myk composes or creates programmed drum parts or loops, or performs on material that is publicly shared or commercially released, please share the completed content with him when possible so that he may participate in related promotional efforts.

Location & Travel

Myk is willing to travel for the right project or opportunity. The easiest areas for live performances, recording, and other music projects are the Los Angeles, California, and Houston, Texas areas.

Travel requirements and any related expenses can be discussed as part of the individual booking.

Pricing & Agreements

For performances, recordings, programming, and other music projects, pricing and any negotiation will be determined after the request has been established and discussed.

Once an agreement has been reached, the relevant details will be put in writing and confirmed.

If significant changes occur after confirmation, the agreement may be reconsidered or restructured. This may also apply when unforeseen circumstances arise, including weather, scheduling obligations, or other circumstances that materially affect the original agreement.

Myk Gózon retains discretion regarding whether reconsideration or restructuring is necessary unless different terms have already been established through a separate contract or prior agreement. When no separate agreement exists, the policies stated here serve as the default booking protocol.

Professional Expectations

Professional judgment and discretion are maintained throughout any booking, rehearsal, lesson, recording, or performance.

Should circumstances arise involving concerns of safety, care, communication, coherence, or the reasonable ability to complete the agreed work, Myk Gózon retains discretion regarding how to proceed.

The intention of this policy is simply to maintain an environment in which the music, people, equipment, and agreed work can be treated with appropriate care.

Drum Lessons

Drum lessons are offered for beginner and intermediate drum-set players. These lessons are not intended as advanced or professional-level drum instruction.

Lessons may address fundamentals, coordination, groove, learning songs, improvisation, creating drum parts, playing with other musicians, and other areas appropriate to the individual student.

The approach can be structured around the student’s particular interests, goals, songs, styles, techniques, or difficulties. Instruction emphasizes listening, demonstration, repetition, feel, and playing by ear.

Important: Drum lessons are for drum set only. Percussion instruction is not currently offered. Myk also does not teach music notation or sight-reading.

Lesson Locations & Online Lessons

In-person drum lessons are offered in the Conroe, Texas area.

If the student travels to Myk, lessons are $15 per hour.

Myk is also willing to travel to students throughout the Houston, Texas area. Lessons where Myk travels to the student are $20 per hour, plus Myk’s personal cost of traveling to the student.

For students outside the Houston area, lessons may be conducted online and/or through email at $20 per hour.

Lesson Payment

Preferred payment methods are Zelle, Venmo, or cash.

When paying in cash, payment is due at the end of the lesson. When using Zelle or Venmo, payment is expected by the end of the week.

When cash payment has been agreed upon, lessons will be suspended following the first missed payment until the payment matter has been resolved.

Lesson Scheduling & Cancellations

Because Myk also performs live, records, and participates in other music projects, an occasional lesson cancellation may be necessary.

When Myk cancels a lesson, the student will not be charged for the missed date. The canceled lesson will not automatically be made up or rescheduled; lessons will simply continue with the next scheduled date.

As with other bookings, an inquiry or lesson request does not constitute confirmation. Scheduling and confirmation will take place through additional communication.
